The Thing is... I've been trying to run 5km in 35 minutes for ages. And I have been doing it, but not in a way that was satisfactory to me. So I've done it previously by running very fast (obviously, this is for a given value of 'very') and then walking for bits and then running fast again. But I've never achieved a continuous plodding run for the whole 35 minutes.
I did the maths (properly this time) and figured out that I had to run at 8.6 km/h and this would do the trick.
But I had tried this before and found that after a few minutes I just didn't believe I could manage the whole time without wanting to walk for a bit. I needed something to distract me effectively. I believed that comedy was the thing and was utilising the madcap craziness (tm) of 'Whoops Apocalypse!'
I didn't see this when it was first broadcast but it was supposed to be a classic comedy series and it does feature a lot of big names from comedy. When I watched it on DVD at home I thought it was perhaps over-rated. However, watching it as it was meant to be seen, episode by episode separated by a few days, as I did at the gym, it was much better. But didn't distract me enough to run for 35 minutes.
So what did it for me?
I wasn't holding out much hope for this but had it downloaded from BBC iplayer and blow me if it didn't do the business!
