I spent a couple of hours this morning attempting to make macaroons. A few weeks ago I thought I had cracked it when I successfully made chocolate macaroons.
But I haven't. I had two attempts this morning - the first attempt was too sloppy, the second attempt too grey (they were supposed to be red but for some reason he food colouring just achieved a sickly pallor of death grey - I decided not to waste gas on them)
I made a chocolate cake yesterday.
Some of Denise's colleagues are having some kind of inspection tomorrow. Whilst I'm sure it will all work out fine, inspections are stressful and Denise suggested that chocolate cake may go down well afterwards. And I might get a bit of diet sponsorship money out of it. Well, the old sponsorship money had dried up recently and, with Christmas coming, I need all the guilt I can get to make it through the season of good will without gaining enormous dollops of weight.
The macaroons were my attempt to offer a gluten free option. Sadly, those who require gluten free may just have to scrape icing off the cake - sorry!
And then I saw this picture on the internet...
And thought it was a good idea. So I made the teachers these as well...
And that's my Christmas message (today's Christmas message) - if you offer me hard cash for my chosen charities (see the link to Virgin Giving in the side bar) I may make you food.
