So please understand it when I say that today, carrying shopping from the car to our front door, my pants started to fall down, I am referring to my underpants and not my trousers. Though, as it happens, my trousers were heading south as well, in hot pursuit of my pants.
Now, in the past my pants and trousers have been less than secure around my belly, and when I've mentioned this to people they have said, 'Hoorah! That must mean you're losing weight!'
The poor deluded fools! When you have a round belly, sometimes your pants and trousers go through a process of 'rolling back' as your belly pushes them south. This is often due to inappropriate sizing of trousers.
For example, these trousers do not fit me....
However, the pants and trouser slippage today were not due to me wearing tight trousers. They were, I believe, due to my recent weight loss. Which I hope means that I am ready to go down a waist size on my trousers. That will take me down from a 44 inch waist to at 42 inch waist.
This is a 42 inch waist photo from a few weeks ago...
Don't judge me, it isn't because I think I'll need a bigger pair for when I put the weight back on - that isn't going to happen. But if i don't have a big pair of trousers how am I going to do the money shot?
