Barbecue this evening?
Without thinking twice, I replied.
But then as I drove home I considered what this would mean. There would be a lot of food everywhere. No doubt there would be nibbles. I was definitely going to over-eat!
But what kind of attitude is that? Obviously completely the wrong attitude. However, I decided that I didn't want to not enjoy a barbecue by not eating the nice food. After all, food is nice. Lots of it is plain delicious. Who wants to make their life a misery by not eating delicious food?
Well, apart from you, sitting at the back with a face like a slapped arse?
Okay, we're agreed, that was nobody.
Now then, follow up question. Who wants to make their life a misery by being overweight and unfit?
Stop putting your hand up! Did you even listen to the question?
So nobody wants to give up on delicious food and nobody wants to be unfit and overweight?
How do so many of you manage it?
So I made the decision that I would eat sensibly. I wouldn't have any bread. I would eat barbecued vegetables. I would take the skin off any barbecued chicken that I ate. No nibbles. Just diet lemonade to drink. Only one scoop of ice cream if ice cream was on offer.
And did I manage it?
