But, as usual, excuses get in the way of the best laid plans. And these were not the best laid plans these were the scrappily formulated plans written on the back of a bit of paper towel (nobody writes things on the back of a postcard or on the back of a fag packet these days, but I do quite a lot of writing on bits of paper towel at work because I can immediately recycle these to clean my consulting room table) by a semi-illiterate peasant. And I won't dignify this lack of planning by claiming that 'life' got in the way. Because if 'life' is getting in the way of doing stuff you want to do then you are being way way too vague and all-consuming in your definition of what 'life' actually covers.
No, as per usual, my general lassitude got in the way. I have been doing some other very important stuff that may, in one way or another, come to fruition. And it is possible that, having missed my 10 day deadline, I may manage to hit a 7 day deadline and pull off something amazing and special for the last week.
But I'm not going to make a promise that I may not be able to keep.
In the meantime, it is a beautiful sunny day today and I am off on a blooming road trip. First to sunny Birmingham and then onwards! to Lancashire to visit Mum, Dad, hopefully my siblings, and their offspring.
It is going to be a good day.
