Just when you think you can't get any more hassle, well...it turns out you can.
By 11 this morning our solicitor STILL hadn't called to say our mortgage funds had arrived. We knew they had because our bank had sent various texts saying they had. And our mortgage manager had confirmed it. Twice. But our solicitor? Well, it seems she couldn't get hold of our bank, she couldn't get hold of her accounts department and she couldn't locate or distinguish her a**e from her elbow.
It took various calls from US (because AGAIN she was insisting we needed to sort this out ourselves) to confirm all funds had cleared before she finally, at 1.30, sent us an email agreeing that yes, they HAD indeed arrived. 'WE KNOW!!!' we shouted. 'Aaaarghhhhh!!!!' My goodness, but it was more stress and anxiety and wondering why we were suddenly and once again surrogate solicitors doing a better job at something we are not even qualified to do.
And between all this we were cleaning and packing and dismantling and running around in circles trying not to let all the rubbish solicitor stuff distract us from the job in hand which was getting ready to move out tomorrow.
Anyway, all is set to go now. My lovely children popped by this evening...
I am very proud of my children! I think I can safely leave them to their lives here in Kent. They have both promised to visit soon. I shall miss them, but distances are short these days, what with the internet and mobile phones and texting and Facetime and the suchlike. They both drive, they both have satnav. They will both be forever my son and my daughter - my Chris and my Heather - and I love them both.
Not sure how long it will be before I can blog again. British Telecom say Friday, but I'll believe it when I see it! In the meantime, thank you for all your messages of support and help. Keep your fingers crossed for us tomorrow, and we shall see you soon for the next Much Malarkey Manor adventures at Damson Cottage!
