Surprised that today I caught myself typing without looking at the keyboard ...all that writing must be paying off at last!
Not surprised that although Daisy Hen has mastered the art of perching on the rustic perch Andy made, Primrose has not. She makes a valiant attempt but it always ends in a bit of a wobbly and a scramble and an inelegant flollop onto the ground. Hence, rehearsals for their trapeze act for 'Britain's Got Talent 2015' is not going quite so well as it should. Put it this way - I am hanging fire on running up a couple of spangly leotards for the moment.
Surprised and yet NOT surprised that Heather is leaving the family nest. She is house hunting in earnest with a friend. Well, she is 26, I suppose...and when she came home from university 5 years ago she didn't actually specify how long she would be staying for.
Unsurprised that because Tybalt is currently having tiddles and poos issues and is now having a 'special' (for 'special' read 'expensive') diet in an attempt to dissolve some bladder stones, he rejects the new food in favour of Flora's adult cat food and Flora has taken a fancy to Tybalt's new food having previously been a fan of the OAP food designated for Phoebe and Tybalt and Phoebe is making a bee line for EVERYTHING and ANYTHING in a cat food bowl, but preferably not her OAP food. Bloody cats...
Surprised at how much I enjoyed making a rag doll at the weekend. I used to make rag dolls years and years ago. I think it is the whole 'World in Miniature' thing that I enjoy. They are going to be one of my summer holiday projects. A rag doll fest!
Unsurprised at Andy's continued success in losing weight. I really am very, very proud of him. However, I am...
...surprised at the distinct lack of fellow chaps sponsoring him in his efforts, which currently count at ZERO with the ladies leading the way (and thank you, Olly, for your donation - you are a marvellous human being, you really are!). C'mon boys...show a bit of support for you fellow chap, eh? Andy is working really hard at this challenge. He ran around the park at 6.30 in the morning this week for God's sake. You should be feeling his pain too by handing over your credit card details. (Other forms of donation e.g cold, hard cash are also acceptable, if that is a more manly option for you.)
Surprised by my Mum and her announcement that she is leaving her body to medical research. I told her, when she asked if I minded, that I was fully supportive of this amazing decision if that is what she wants to do when the time comes in the many years' future, but it did rather scupper my plans to have her stuffed and put on the mantlepiece. Don't worry - she did laugh!
Unsurprised by the realisation that an Eton Mess Mille Feuille (440 calories and loving hand crafted by hubby Andy) is not a sufficient meal substitute when one is on a diet, despite the utter deliciousness of it, whereas a pile of vegetables worth 130 calories leaves you feeling stuffed as turtle.
Surprised I have managed to come up with a blog today because I have really been struggling with ideas - but then that is unsurprising as I have been using writing energy elsewhere.
And the weather is boiling hot with odds and sods of showers to keep the grass green, and the neighbours continue to be irritating, and school is nearly over for the summer, and my idea for a writing club has taken an unexpected and fortuitous turn which suggests it was a decision that Fate and the Stars have put my way, and there is a banana muffin and cup of tea calling from the kitchen so 'Ta-ta' for now, all you lovely people - 'Ta-ta!!!'
